Himachal Pradesh came into existence as a centrally administered territory on 15 April 1948 by the integration of 30 erstwhile princely states. On 25 January 1971, Himachal Pradesh became the eighteenth State of the Union of India vide the State of Himachal Pradesh Act, 1970
